Our Mission

Be the Change Recovery exists to provide structured, inclusive recovery education that bridges lived experience and clinical rehabilitation principles, supporting individuals, families, and treatment communities in building sustainable, accountable lives.

Our Vision

We envision a recovery landscape where discipline replaces denial, structure replaces chaos, and individuals and families are equipped with practical systems that protect long-term stability.

We believe recovery should be accessible to anyone willing to practice it daily, regardless of background, profession, or belief system.

Our Core Values

Inclusivity

Addiction does not discriminate. Recovery must remain accessible and welcoming to individuals and families from every background.

Accountability

Lasting recovery requires responsibility. We emphasize ownership over blame and execution over intention.

Structure

Recovery is strengthened through daily systems, disciplined routines, and consistent action.

Integrity

We do not glorify addiction or oversell recovery. We operate with honesty, professionalism, and respect for clinical environments.

Compassion With Boundaries

We recognize the human cost of addiction while reinforcing healthy boundaries and personal responsibility.

Long-Term Thinking

Sustainable recovery prioritizes stability and future strength over immediate relief.

Be the Change Recovery is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Julia Morris, OTD, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and Triple X, grounded in one conviction: addiction does not discriminate, and recovery should not either.

Addiction impacts individuals and families across every race, profession, belief system, and socioeconomic background. It disrupts careers, relationships, and entire systems. Because it crosses every boundary, recovery must remain inclusive, accessible, and rooted in both lived experience and professional rehabilitation.

Be the Change Recovery was created to bridge those two worlds.

We combine lived experience in addiction, relapse, incarceration, and reconstruction with clinical expertise in occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, and functional restoration. Our work focuses on structured recovery education, relapse prevention through daily systems, identity reconstruction, and reinforcing accountability culture within treatment environments.

We believe recovery is rented daily. It is strengthened through consistent action and weakened through complacency. For that reason, life must be built around protecting recovery, not the other way around.

As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to serve individuals, families, and treatment communities seeking long-term stability grounded in responsibility, discipline, and compassion.

Addiction does not discriminate. Neither should recovery.

Founders

Dr. Julia Morris, OTD

Dr. Julia Morris, OTD is the co-founder of Be the Change Recovery. She brings a rehabilitation-informed lens to recovery, focused on how people rebuild life after disruption through habits, routines, roles, and the daily systems that make stability possible.

Her connection to addiction is personal. She has lived inside its impact through family loss and long-term proximity, witnessing how addiction reshapes households, caregiving, trust, and identity. That experience shaped her commitment to recovery work that supports not only the individual, but the family system around them.

At Be the Change Recovery, Dr. Julia leads family education and practical implementation support, helping families move from confusion and burnout to clearer boundaries, healthier communication, and daily structure that supports long-term recovery.

Together, Dr. Julia and Triple X founded Be the Change Recovery to bridge lived experience with practical, evidence-informed support for individuals, families, and recovery communities.

Triple X

Triple X is a national recovery speaker, author, and structured recovery educator whose life reflects the full arc of trauma, addiction, crime, incarceration, relapse, and long-term reconstruction.

Raised in dysfunction, he developed survival patterns that evolved into addiction and criminal behavior. Over decades, he cycled through periods of achievement and collapse, operating at a high professional level while privately battling addiction. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology and an MBA while maintaining external success and internal instability.

His criminal activity led to incarceration. Prison confronted consequences, but lasting transformation required more than consequences alone. After multiple relapses, recovery became a disciplined daily practice rooted in structure rather than motivation.

Today, Triple X travels nationally speaking at treatment centers about relapse mechanics, criminal thinking patterns, identity reconstruction, and building daily systems that protect long-term sobriety. He is the author of Becoming the Change, documenting the reality of destruction and reconstruction without glorifying the past.

His work emphasizes responsibility, disciplined execution, and sustainable recovery built through daily structure.
